This is what we are currently exploring in the Discovery Center.

Art
The children are painting large murals as a group. They are enjoying the experience of painting on a very large piece of paper placed outside on the ground. They are able to use very large brushes and move their bodies as they paint.

Kitchen Science
The children are making pizza from scratch. We roll our own dough, grate cheese, and bake them in a small table top oven so the children can see them change as they bake.

Block
Children have begun drawing plans or sketches of what they are going to build before they build it.

Pretend
The children asked for doctor's tools and there is very rich doctor play happening. The children are pretending different members of our community are having babies or are sick. We have a cot set up and the children are using plastic syringes, Dr. scrubs, and stethoscopes.

Music/Movement
Douglas is sharing the Spanish language music of Jose Luis Orozco with the children. They are learning a call and repeat song titled "al tambor".

Exploratorium
The children are exploring rocks by weighing them and looking at them through magnifying glasses.

Literacy
Children are making there own books over long periods of time. They begin by choosing paper for their pages, and stapling a cover on to them. The books are kept in a special holder where children can find and work on them when they wish.
