Q: How long is your waiting list? A: We have a waiting pool rather than a list. We do look at several factors when planning enrollment. We offer priority to Santa Monica residents as well as employees of Yahoo! and Yahoo! Center. We are committed to a diverse school community with a good balance of age, gender and socio-economic and ethnic backgrounds. Applications are accepted January-December for the next center year that would start the following July.
Q: If I work at Yahoo! or Yahoo! Center does my child automatically have a space? A: We do offer priority to Yahoo! and Yahoo! Center employees. For families that are pregnant or have children up to age 3, we have the My Family and Me program that you must complete in order to receive an application.
Q: When is your next tour? A: We do not maintain separate tours at this time. If you are interested in our program you might want to consider our My Family and Me program for families that are pregnant up to age 3. Once you have completed a six-week series, you will receive an application and a tour can be arranged at that time. If your child is older than 3, we do offer several tours a year, please call for times available.
Q: Why do I have to take the My Family and Me classes? A: We are a philosophy based developmental school and ultimately, we are looking for families that are a good philosophical match. We have found that the classes also offer families an invaluable introduction to early childhood development.
Q: I work full-time. Do you have Saturday classes? A: Saturday classes are a work in progress. We do not offer them at this time but we wish to in the future. Please check back periodically.
Q: What is your philosophy? How do you know our family is a good match? A: Please see Philosophy
Q: Does my three year old need to be toilet learned to enter the Pre-K program? A: In general, yes. We expect any child of this age to be toilet learned. However, if your child has special needs or there are special circumstances, we can discuss this further with you.
